Triathlon is an exciting sport with opportunities for young people to progress to the top of the sport. Training for the sport of Triathlon also helps young people to develop good lifestyle and exercise habits.
The Duncraig Triathlon Academy (DTA) is based at Duncraig Senior High School (Duncraig SHS). The DTA is an approved Department of Education specialist sport program. As a recognised specialist program, we are able to enrol students who do not reside within our catchment however places are limited.
The DTA is aimed at:
- Young people who currently, or have in the past, competed in triathlons.
- Young athletes who currently compete in swimming, cycling or running but may not have thought of competing as a triathlete.
- Other interested individuals who are keen to develop their performance in triathlon.
- Team sport players looking to improve their aerobic fitness and looking to experience the sport of triathlon.
The aim of the program is to improve individual performances and participation in Triathlon. The program is designed to help young triathletes do a large part of their training during school time, leaving more time after school for other interests. For those athletes already training regularly, it provides additional training during school time. The Triathlon program offers 4 lessons of triathlon structured as swim, bike, run, and general sport spread across the 5-day week. Swimming is held in the afternoon and will require students to finish 30 minutes later than the usual school day. Cycling is held in the morning and requires students to start an hour earlier than the usual school day. Running and general sport hare held within the usual school day.
Applications for the 2027 Triathlon Academy Program will open Wednesday, 22 April 2026 and close on Friday, 29 May 2026. All applicants will be required to participate in a Triathlon trial being held on Friday, 12 June 2026.
When completing the Year 7 Enrolment Form, please click ‘Triathlon’ Program on the Welcome Page and complete the Triathlon Application Form. You will be required to attach a copy of your child’s most recent school report and a recent headshot photograph.
