GIFTED AND TALENTED PROGRAM
The Department of Education of Western Australia provides two levels of provision for Gifted and Talented students – supplementary and school-based. The Gifted and Talented program is offered only at selected high schools across the metropolitan area. Duncraig Senior High School is one of these schools.
The Gifted and Talented program at Duncraig Senior High School provides a program extending/accelerating students from Years 7 to 12, in the areas of Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences and English.
The program enables the most Gifted and Talented students to interact with their peers at a higher level than can normally be provided within a regular classroom or school. Both within and beyond the classroom the Gifted and Talented program at Duncraig provides opportunities for students to participate in a program that promotes academic rigour within a supportive and enjoyable learning environment.
Entry into this program is only available through a rigorous testing process, with annual testing held in March. This year, the testing day will be Saturday 20 March 2021. Due to the delayed start to Term 1 brought about by the COVID lockdown, the deadline date for applications has been extended to Sunday, 14 February 2021. Students who are successful in gaining a place in this program do not need to reside within our intake area.

Parent Information Evenings
Parent information evenings for the Gifted and Talented Secondary Program occur between October and November. All sessions contain the same content and detail the application, selection and placement process for entry to Gifted and Talented Secondary Selective Entrance Programs. All sessions commence at 6pm (unless otherwise noted on the schedule) and run for approximately 40 minutes. Sessions are very popular so RSVP is essential.
