Course Description:

This course will be completed over two years and includes the following units:

Core Units

BSBWOR202       Organise and complete daily work activities 

HLTAID003          Provide First Aid 

SISXEMR001       Respond to emergency situations 

SISXIND001         Work effectively in sport, fitness and recreation industry environments 

SISXIND002         Maintain sport, fitness and recreation industry knowledge 

HLTWHS001       Participate in workplace health and safety  

SISXCAI002          Assist with activity sessions 

SISXCCS001         Provide quality service 

SISSPAR009        Participate in conditioning for sport

SISSSCO001        Conduct sport coaching sessions with foundation level participants

SISSSCO003        Meet participant coaching needs

SISXCAI001         Provide equipment for activities 

SISXFAC001        Maintain equipment for activities 

Full completion of this qualification allows individuals to develop basic functional knowledge and skills for work in customer contact positions in the sport or community recreation industry. These individuals will be competent in a range of administrative activities and functions within a team and under supervision. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks using practical skills and basic sport and recreation industry knowledge.

Further Study:
Year 12 concurrent completion of SIS20115 Certificate II in Sport & Recreation.
Additional Information:
Completion of this course can present opportunities for individuals to work in locations such as sport and recreation centres or facilities, and leisure and aquatic centres assisting with the conduct of recreation activities, and facility maintenance and operations. This course may lead to vocational opportunities in coaching, umpiring, sports training, Physical Education teaching, study in Sports Science, sports administration, gym instructor or personal training. Personal attributes that would be developed include teamwork, leadership skills, personal fitness, development of physical skills, technique improvement and organisational skills. At the completion of this course students will receive a First Aid certificate. 

The SIS20115 Certificate II in Sport and Recreation is a proposed offering for the 2021 academic year. At the time of publication, no agreements have been entered into with a Registered Training Organisation for the delivery of this qualification. On the basis of interest from students in the SIS20115 Certificate II in Sport and Recreation, the school will initiate a formal partnership agreement with a RTO for the delivery of the qualification.
